Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK is an annual event that aims to raise awareness and promote understanding of mental health issues. This year, it takes place from May 12th through May 16th. it is organised by the Mental Health Foundation, one of the UK’s leading mental health charities.
Mental Health Awareness Week – a valuable time to reflect on the importance of mental wellbeing, both in and outside of work.
What is Mental Health? - Mental health encompasses emotional, psychological, and social well-being, influencing how we think, feel, and act, and impacting our ability to cope with stress, relate to others, and make choices.
Looking after our mental health is just as important as our physical health, and we wanted to use the week to encourage open conversations, share support, and have a bit of fun along the way.
To get everyone involved, we put together a Mental Health Bingo Sheet. It was a light-hearted activity designed to prompt small, positive actions that can boost wellbeing – things like taking a walk, chatting with a colleague, or trying a few minutes of mindfulness.
To round off the week, we hosted a BBQ on the Friday lunchtime to bring everyone together: FAAC Access Solutions, FAAC Entrance Solutions, HUB UK, and FMS. It was a great chance to relax, grab a bite, and catch up with colleagues.
We felt we used the week to support one another, check in with ourselves and others, and take a moment to focus on mental health in a positive, practical way.
We also reminded staff that we have a team of Mental Health First Aiders always ready to offer assistance, they are: Sarah Cosby, Russell Slann, Sarah Hallam and Ioana Dulau.
